Northwell Health, formerly North Shore-LIJ, filed a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the New York State Department of Health on October 12. The filing indicates the company will close its East Hills facility and lay off 107 employees in January 2018.
Northwell Health is New York State’s largest private employer and health care provider, according to its website. The company employs more than 62,000 employees, including 2,800 physicians.
The reason for the dislocation cited in the filing is “termination of its contract with the Department of Health.” The employees impacted by the closure are not represented by the union and are expected to separate on January 5, 2018 or within 14 days of that date.
The company will close its East Hills office at 2200 Northern Boulevard on January 5, 2018.
