North Carolina Man Gets 5-Year Prison Sentence For Hacking Scheme Targeting Federal Officials


A man was sentenced to five years in prison for conspiring to access online accounts and government computer systems that belonged to senior U.S. government officials.

Twenty-five-year-old Justin G. Liverman, aka “D3F4ULT,” of Morehead City, was a member of the “Crackas With Attitude.” He conspired with others to commit identity theft, telephone harassment and unauthorized computer intrusions. Liverman and others attempted to harass and intimidate U.S. government officials and their families, by accessing their online accounts in November 2015.

PrisonLiverman obtained personal information and documents from the victim’s accounts and posted them online. He also sent them threatening text messages and utilizes a “phonebombing” service to repeatedly call them, according to court documents.

In November 2015, Liverman utilized a federal official’s credentials to access a federal law enforcement database. He then uploaded the information to a public website.

Liverman’s co-conspirator, 23-year-old Andrew Otto Boggs of North Wilkesboro was sentenced to two years in prison on June 30.
