Nike, Inc. filed a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the New York State Department of Labor on December 14. The notice indicates the company will close its Niketown Midtown store and lay off 357 employees.
Nike is an American multinational corporation that is engaged in development, design and manufacturing of apparel, footwear, accessories and equipment. The company announced on December 6 that it would close its store at 6 East 57th Street in New York and will open a new store just five blocks down 5th Avenue in 2019.
Employee separations will occur within a 14-day period of March 17, 2018. The store will also close on the same day, according to the filing.
