Natural Resources Police Recovered Body Of Missing Near Hart-Miller Island


Maryland Natural Resources Police said a 56-year-old man jumped from an anchored boat near the north side of Hart-Miller Island around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

According to witnesses, the man dove into the water to free the anchor. Two passengers were aboard the boat at the time of the incident. The man who was later identified, as Mark Earl Litzau of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania did not surface.

The passengers told police they immediately began to search for Litzau and sought assistance from nearby boaters. Baltimore County Fire and Police, Coast Guard and Natural Resources Police conducted a search utilizing side-scan sonar and divers.

At 8 a.m. Thursday morning, the search resumed and the body was recorded a short time later.
