At least six people have been injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Washington County. The Maryland State Police has launched an investigation into the accident. A short time after 11:30 AM, officers from the Hagerstown Barrack responded to the eastbound I-70 around MD 65 and MD 632 after receiving a report of a serious multi-vehicle crash with entrapments.
The preliminary investigation concludes that traffic had slowed or stopped for a construction crew working to repair potholes. An empty passenger bus was unable to stop in time. That resulted in the bus crashing into parked traffic. Three commercial vehicles and five passenger vehicles were involved. One victim was taken to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment via airplane.
All other patients were taken to the Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown for treatment. No fatalities have been reported at this time.
