Mount Vernon’s Ryleigh’s Oyster Closes After Two Years In Operation

Another business added to the long list of closures in Baltimore this year, Ryleigh’s Oysters in Mount Vernon. The owner, Brian McComas, plans to transform the restaurant into a catering kitchen and private event space.

The restaurant at 1225 Cathedral Street has closed after only two years in operation. McComas said the past two years had been difficult and he could not justify keeping it open. He opened the Mount Vernon location in 2014.

Business Closing

The Timonium location and flagship location in Federal Hill will be unaffected by the closure. National Oyster Day will become the new trend for Saturdays at both locations. Specials will include oysters for 50 cents, increasing by 25 cents every hour until they cap at $2 each and all-day $5 oyster shooters.

The remaining employees will be offered jobs at other Ryleigh’s locations, said McComas.
