Though it’s been a long time coming, but the sequel to Minions is finally here! This movie will be released in 2022 and it’ll have Gru as the main character. Minions: The Rise of Gru Release Date
We will be seeing Minions: The Rise of Gru in the theaters in 2022. However, the movie will serve as a sequel to the 2015 movie, Minions. Moreover, the film will have Steve Carell reprising his role as the main character of Gru and Pierre Coffin returning to voice all of our lovable minions!
This can’t-miss animation is sure to be a success at the box office with its hilarious cast and characters that we know and love from previous movies. Also, this movie will be the fifth movie in the Despicable Me franchise.
Minions: The Rise of Gru Coming in July 2022
In addition, the movie is set to be released in theaters on July 1, 2022! We can’t wait for this new adventure with Gru and his Minions. Who knows what trouble they’ll get into? We just hope that it will be as enjoyable as previous Minion movies have been! There are definitely some exciting times ahead for the movie.
The announcement for the release of the movie was made back in 2019. The movie was delayed for release because of the ongoing Covid-19 virus. It was thought that the movie would be released in 2020, but it has been postponed to 2022.
The official teaser for this film will probably come out as we get closer to July 2022! We’re looking forward to seeing what Gru and his Minions have been up to recently.
The Cast Returning with the Sequel
We have been waiting for the sequel, and it looks like there’s some good news that we can share. The cast is returning to the movie! They are all confirmed to be coming back, including Steve Carell (who plays Gru) and Pierre Coffin (Minions voice actor).

In addition, we will also see the villains of the movie franchise returning in the sequel. Belle Bottom will be voiced by Taraji P. Henson, Master Chow will be played by Michelle Yeoh, and Jean Clawed will be voiced by Jean-Claude Van Damme. Nunchuck is also on the list and he will have the voice of Lucy Lawless, Svengeance will have the voice of Dolph Lundgren, and Stronghold by Danny Trejo.
Wild Knuckles is returning to the screen as well. Wild will have the voice of Alan Arkin. There are few other names who are not yet confirmed for this sequel. But, we will let you know soon.
Direction and Production of Sequel After the Pandemic
The Upcoming Movie will be directed by Kyle Balda, with Brad Ableson and Jonathan del Val as co-directors. We will have to see the return of Steve Carell as Gru, and Pierre Coffin. Let’s wait for our most loved villain to return on the big screen.
