Mettler-Toledo To Close Ithaca Plant And Lay Off 69 Employees


Mettler-Toledo, LLC filed a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the New York State Department of Labor on November 22. The notice indicates the company will close its facility at 5 Barr Road in Ithaca, New York and lay off 69 employees by 2019.

Business Closing

Mettler-Toledo offers precision instruments and services for many applications in development and research, logistics, quality control and retail to customers. The company was incorporated in 1986 and is based in Columbus, Ohio.

Employee separations are expected to begin on March 1, 2018 and continue through January 1, 2019. The affected employees do not have any bumping rights.

The company cited “relocation to Tampa, Florida” as the reason or dislocation.
