MEPCO To Close Greene County Mine, Cut 370 Jobs


MEPCO LLC filed a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry earlier this month. The notice indicates the company will close its 4 West Mine at Dilliner and lay off 370 employees in March.

West Virginia-based MEPCO will permanently close the mine located near the West Virginia border on December 31.

Employee separations will begin on March 2 and continue through December 31. The affect workers have no bumping rights, according to the filing.
