Maryland State Trooper Hits Pedestrian With Patrol Car In Ocean City


Maryland State Trooper struck and killed a pedestrian in Worcester County Friday night.

Approximately 11:30 p.m., Master Trooper James Price was on duty, assisting the Ocean City Police Department with traffic control during the Endless Summer Cruisin’ celebration. Trooper Price was traveling northbound on Coastal Highway at 76th street, when a pedestrian ran into oncoming traffic, into the path of the patrol car.

The trooper attempted to avoid striking the man, according to the report. Medics dispatched to the scene transported the man to Atlantic General Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Trooper Price has been placed on administrative, which is routine whenever a law enforcement officer is involved in a collision. The man did not have any identification on his persons at the time of incident. Additional details were not immediately available.
