Maryland State Police say a Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration worker suffered non-life threatening injuries, following a collision.
Approximately 9:45 p.m. Wednesday night, troopers were dispatched to the inner loop of the Interstate 695 prior to Interstate 70 to investigate a two-vehicle collision. At the scene, the responding officers observed a 2004 Ford Freestar and a SHA CHART truck, both with extensive damage, according to the release.
The preliminary investigation revealed the Ford was traveling in the far right lane when for unknown reasons it drifted onto the right shoulder, rear ending the SHA truck parked on the right shoulder of the highway.
Investigators do not know at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
The SHA worker suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Northwest Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Ford who has not yet been identified was taken to Northwest Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
