Maryland State Police say a man and woman were fatally injured in a collision in Thurmont.
Approximately 5:11 p.m. Sunday, troopers responded to a motor vehicle accident at 15250 Sabillasville Road. At the scene, the troopers initiated an investigation, revealing a 2003 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound in the area of 15250 Sabillasville Road, when the driver lost control of the car on a sharp, downhill curve. The Toyota swerved and entered the northbound lane, hitting a 2007 Chevrolet truck traveling in the northbound lane on the front passenger side.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as 85-year-old Richard Ditch of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania was airlifted to Baltimore Shock Trauma, where he was pronounced deceased. Medics pronounced a passenger of the Toyota, 84-year-old Hilda M. Ditch, deceased at the scene. A second passenger of the Toyota, 54-year-old John William Ditch, was airlifted to Baltimore Shock Trauma for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet, 62-year-old Michael Joseph Miller of Frederick County, was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
