Maryland State Police Identify Victim In Fatal Collision In Frederick


Maryland State Police say a 25-year-old man was fatally injured in a collision in the area of Interstate 70 at Route 85 in Frederick.

Troopers were dispatched to a hit and run collision approximately 3:41 a.m. Friday morning in the area of I-70 at Route 85. At the scene, the troopers observed a Honda Accord with front-end damage in lane two and only one person.

Preliminary investigation revealed the Honda was traveling westbound in lane three, when the operator struck the rear end of a tractor-trailer. Investigators said speed was a factor in the accident, according to the report.

The Honda was occupied by three people, one rear seat passenger and two front seat passengers. One of the front seat passengers was pronounced deceased a short time after arriving to Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was identified as 25-year-old Javanti E. Jackson of Frederick, Maryland.

The driver of the commercial truck failed to stop and continued on Interstate 70 westbound.
