Maryland Man Being Investigated For Using Comic Book Conventions To Solicit Minors


Loudon Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit in Virginia partnered with the Salt Lake City Sheriff’s Office to apprehend a 35-year-old Cantonsville man on Tuesday. Derrick La Marr Jones was charged on two counts of illegal use of an electronic communication system to solicit a juvenile female between the age of 15 and 18 for indecent liberties.

The Loudon Sheriff’s Office received a report on March 7 from a family member that an Ashburn teenager had been communicating with an adult male through a social media platform.According to LCSO, Jones provided the girl transportation so she could travel from her home to Baltimore to meet him. Jones had attended several comic conventions, including Orlando, Florida; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Flagstaff, Arizona; Phoenix, Arizona; Sacramento, California; Los Angeles, California and Salt Lake City, Utah.
