A St. Mary’s County man has been arrested after being found passed out in his truck with drugs while his 2-year-old son was in the vehicle with him. 35-year-old Brandon Michael Gohl of Hollywood, Maryland was arrested on Sunday. He has been charged with possession of drugs with intent to distribute and child neglect. Gohl was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center. He is waiting to appear before a court commissioner.
A short time after 6 PM on Sunday, a trooper responded to a report of a child welfare check. Investigators believe that the mother of the suspect’s son notified the police after her son video chatted her upset and crying from inside of Gohl’s truck. The mother told police that the child was unable to provide any details of their location. A phone ping helped narrow down Gohl’s phone to the area of Forest Park Road in Lexington Park, Maryland.
Several police officers traveled to the area and started a search for the truck. A trooper found the vehicle and discovered two males passed out inside. The child was spotted screaming and crying in the back seat. The child was removed from the vehicle and Gohl was arrested. A search of the vehicle discovered 23 capsules supposedly containing heroin.
Money and 889 grams of marijuana were also discovered. The other passenger, 23-year-old Zackery Taylor Ricker, was charged with possession of marijuana. He was issued a civil citation before being released. The child was returned to his mother after being examined by EMS personnel.
