Maryland looking for ways to keep you safe on the road

Maryland has taken it up as a goal to ensure safe driving. As a result, it is now looking for new ideas to develop the same. The Maryland Department of Transportation Administrator Christine Nizer said, “Alcohol impairment, speeding, distracted driving, not buckling up” are a few driving safety issues that officials must take care of! As a result, they have also stepped up enforcement for traffic. Nizer had said her department handled these issues in the traditional ways, working in a not-so-traditional way. She said, “We partner with the Maryland Institute College and Art on a pedestrian safety campaign within the City of Baltimore.”

  • MDOT is currently accepting grant applications
  • Traffic safety programs and projects were undertaken to reduce the number of deaths, injuries, and crashes and are currently being worked upon
  • Grant funds are coming from the infrastructure investments
  • More than 13 million dollars were given out to different projects

Nizer had said that more than 13 million dollars in grant money were given out for various projects in 2022. The awards of 200,000 dollars given to the George’s County police department in the DC region were included! This includes funds allocated to Rockville, Takoma Park, and Gaithersburg police departments!

Safety on the road is the sole priority.

For the Maryland people, safety on the roads while driving has become a prime concern. Everyone is rushing to raise awareness to develop unique and innovative ways to implement safety measures while going. Pedestrian safety is also taken into consideration in this campaign.
