Acting U.S. Attorney William D. Weinreb announced Thursday a Florida-based psychic pleaded guilty to impeding the Internal Revenue Service by concealing approximately $3.5 million of income received from a Martha’s Vineyard resident.
Forty-one-year-old Sally Ann Johnson, aka “Angela Johnson, “Angelia Johnson” and “Sally Reed,” admitted to evading taxes from 2007 to 2014. Johnson operated several businesses, including Psychic Match, Inc., Flatiron Psychic and Psychic Spiritual Salon, Inc. An elderly female living on Martha’s Vineyard paid Johnson more than $3.5 million for exorcisms and spiritual cleanings, according to court documents.
To avoid paying taxes, Johnson directed the woman to sent payments to several accounts in another person’s name and used an alias. Once the money was deposited into the accounts, she would withdraw large sums of cash. Johnson also utilized the woman’s credit card, racking up large debt that the woman paid. Neither Johnson nor her businesses filed or paid taxes from 2007 to 2014.
As part of the plea, Johnson agreed to repay the woman $3,567,300 and pay restitution to the IRS. She faces a maximum 3-year prison sentence and $250,000 fine. Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 17, 2018.
