Maryland Natural Resources Police said a man was injured while attempting to jump from a boat north of Assateague Island.

At 1 a.m. Monday, a 30-year-old jumped from a 22-foot boat that was anchored into the shallow waters in Ocean City near the inlet, police said. After losing his footing, he fell and suffered “a severe injury to his neck.” Six other people aboard the boat took the man ashore, officials said.
