University of Maryland police say a man attacked a student with a baseball bat on campus.
Approximately 10:56 p.m. Friday, police responded to Stamp Student Union to investigate a reported assault. At the scene, the responding officers met with two students who said they were involved in an altercation with several people in a car that was driving along Campus Drive.
The preliminary investigation revealed a passenger of the vehicle got out and followed the students for a short distance. He then returned to the vehicle for a baseball bat. He struck one of the students, before fleeing in the vehicle towards Baltimore Avenue.
The student was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries and later released, according to the report. Two suspects who are not affiliated with the institution have been identified and denied future access to the campus.
