Lindy’s Restaurant filed a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification on September 29 with the New York State Department of Labor. The notice indicates that the restaurant will close and lay off 35 employees on January 7, 2018.
Leo “Lindy” Lindermann opened the first Lindy’s location in August 20, 1921 at 1626 Broadway, which closed in 1957. Lindy’s was later resurrected in 1979 after its name fell into the public domain.
Lindy’s at 825 7th Avenue in New York will close on January 7, 2018. The employees who are represented by the UNITE Here Local 100 union will depart on the same day, according to the filing.
