Legacy of Grey’s Anatomy Renewed For Season 18

Grey’s Anatomy has been on the air for 17 seasons, and it is set to return for season 18 this fall. The show was just renewed for an 18th season by ABC. Grey’s Anatomy premiered on March 27, 2005, as a mid-season replacement series that aired after Desperate Housewives. It quickly became popular due to its focus on relationships between doctors at Seattle Grace Hospital and because of the large number of medical inaccuracies.

Grey’s Anatomy is Coming Season!

The American medical drama television series and it is the longest-running primetime scripted show currently airing on ABC. It is set to return for its 18th season this fall, and it will be running for 44-45 minutes per episode. The premiere date has not been announced as of yet, but the new season is expected to air sometime between September 30 and October 31st in 2021.

The new season was ordered on May 10, 2021. It may see some delay, but the previous season will likely serve as a backdoor pilot for any new medical dramas that might be introduced.

The eighteenth season will be produced by Shondaland Production Company and Entertainment One Television. ABC Studios will produce the show, along with The Mark Gordon Company.

The script for this upcoming season is currently being written by Krista Vernoff, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers.

We have Heard it: Abigail Spencer is Returning to the Show!

The show recently announced that they are about to get Abigail Spencer to reprise her role as  Dr. Megan Hunt in the upcoming 18th season of Grey’s Anatomy, which was renewed for another chapter on May 15, 2021.

The actress has been seen in Mad Men, True Detective, Timeless, Batwoman‘s new Poison Ivy and Jane the Virgin alum Bridget Regan.

Megan Hunt went through devastating injuries after her accident in Iraq. She was reunited with her lost love Nathan Riggs, adopting a son named Farouk.

The show has announced the return of Kate Walsh and Kate Burton for the upcoming 18th season of Grey’s Anatomy.

Do We Have the Names of the Other Cast Announced?

Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, and James Pickens Jr, who have been working with the series for a long time, are confirmed to return for the 18th season.

The series is reportedly expected to return with its original cast members, who all recently signed new deals for Season 18 of Grey’s Anatomy. Season 18 will premier on Thursday, September 30 at 9 p.m. ET.

We have not been able to confirm the plot for the 18th season, but we can assume it will pick up from where Season 17 left off.
