The joker is back and this time he’s more dangerous than ever. The joker has been played by many actors, but it looks like the joker will be played by none other than Joaquin Phoenix in the upcoming joker 2 movies. In our article, we’ll discuss what we know about joker 2 so far including release date, cast, plot.
The release date of Joker 2:
That was the last we heard of it until May 2021 when it was reported again that Joker 2 was in the works with Phillips having “struck a deal” to co-write the sequel, but there have been no other details since and Phillips hasn’t responded either.
The cast of Joker 2:
- Joaquin Phoenix
- Zazie Beetz
- Brian Tyree Henry
- Frances Conroy
- Robert De Niro
The film was released on 2nd October 2019. The Joker cast list includes the likes of Zazi Beetz, Robert DeNiro, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Marc Maron, Shea Whigham, and Bill Camp, amongst others.
The 2019 Todd Philips directorial, as is known to many, had earned the makers, including its leading man Phoenix, multiple awards, and was an unforeseen box office success.
The Plot of Joker 2:
The first film ended in a way that felt both conclusive and open for a sequel, with Arthur Fleck gunning down TV host Murray Franklin on live TV. Then, we saw Bruce Wayne witness the murder of his parents by a clown-masked rioter.
No details have leaked out about what events Joker 2 will focus on. Originally, Phillips wanted to do a series of DC villain origin movies, not a series of Joker movies. So Phillips coming back to the movie likely stems from either a big offer or a big idea (hopefully both).
What we can expect from Joker 2, though, is a serious emotional impact. Back in 2019, Phillips told Deadline that such a movie (were it to happen) “would have to have a real thematic resonance the way this one did, ultimately being about childhood trauma and the lack of love, and the loss of empathy. All those things are really what made this movie work for us, so we’d have to have something that had an equal thematic resonance.”
Is Joker 2 worth watching?
This Joker movie is worth watching because it will make you think about your theaters for years to come as an iconic take on the Clown Prince of Crime and his relationship with Batman.
