Detectives believe the 20-year-old woman from Pennsylvania and 27-year-old woman from California were engaging in prostitution. It is unclear how the women came to Maryland, according to the report.

Through investigation, detectives were able to identify the man responsible for posting on Backpage, advertising sexual services with the women. Thirty-six-year-old Keven Oswald Joseph of Marblehedge Way in Silver Spring was arrested and charged with multiple counts of human trafficking and prostitution. He is being held at the Howard County Detention Center on a no-bond status.

Detectives believe Joseph forced the women to perform sex acts for money and transported them to New York and Philadelphia for the purpose of prostitution.
