Howard County Police Investigating Robbery In Laurel


Howard County Police Department is investigating a report of a robbery in Laurel.

Police responded to a report of a robbery at the intersection of Hitching Post Lane and Covered Wagon Drive around 11:34 p.m. Friday. The victim told police that two black males approached him, taking out the trash. The suspects tried to steal the victim’s backpack, before they fled the scene.

The victim provided police with a description of the suspects. One was 6-foot tall wearing all dark clothing and the other was 5-foot wearing a white shirt and red hat, police said.

Around 11:46 Friday, police were called to the 5700 block of Stevens Forest Road for a report of a robbery. Five suspects, one female and four males, threatened the victim with a knife and demanded his money.

Police later arrested one of the suspects, who was identified as 18-year-old Raysean Keanan Bright of Overheart Lane in Columbia. He was charged with armed robbery, police said.

At 4:20 p.m. Saturday evening, the Island Carousel inside the Columbia Mall reported a theft. An employee told police that a woman stole cash from the register. The suspect assaulted the employee, when she confronted her about the incident.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
