Howard County Police say a 40-year-old man was critically injured in single-vehicle collision in Columbia.
Approximately 10:40 p.m. Saturday, an officer working on McGaw Road observed a 2012 Dodge Charger fail to negotiate a turn and strike a median. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle sped off. A pursuit ensued and was shortly terminated to the vehicle high rate of speed, according to the report.
Medics transported the driver, 40-year-old Christopher Damien Williams of Glen Burnie to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where is listed in critical but stable condition.
Investigators believe alcohol and speed may have contributed to the collision. Williams was not wearing a seatbelt.
Northbound Snowden River Parkway was closed between Berger Road and Rustling Leaf for about two hours for the investigation.
