Rumor has it that President Trump’s administration duplicated President Barack Obama’s 2013 inauguration cake, which was designed by Charm City Cakes. Of course, this had little impact on the bakery and on Thursday, a second Baltimore location opened in Harbor East.
Duff Goldman, the owner and star of the Food Network’s Ace of Cakes, was present at the East Harbor location to celebrate the grand opening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The original Charm City Cakes located in Remington opened in 2002 and it was so successful that Goldman opened a second location in Los Angeles nine years later.
“Cake just makes me smile and I hope our new store brings a smile to the faces of all those who walk through the doors,” Goldman said in a statement.
The 200-square-foot cake shop is located between James Royce and Roy’s at 618 South President Street and will act as a real arm of the bakery. The storefront will offer a variety of sweets, including cupcakes, cake jars, brownies and macarons, along with other baked goods.
Charm City Cakes will open from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
