Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan : Will not challenge Trump in 2024 primary

The Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican, has recently declared that he will not run for the White House in 2024. He has positioned himself as an alternate to the former president for quite a long time. He further said he will not challenge the ex-president for the GOP’s White House nomination in 2024. The 66-year-old Larry said, “I would never run for president to sell books or position myself for a Cabinet role. I have long said that I care more about ensuring a future for the Republican Party than securing my future in the Republican Party. And that is why I will not be seeking the Republican nomination for president.” This move has recognized that some primary voters can opt for a vocal critic of the former president—the former Reps. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois are some of the prominent adversaries of Trump who would be moving towards a campaign now! Of course, this has left Trump as the leading figure in the early field of Republican candidates.

Challengers of Hogan to be named:

The three formal challengers of Hogan include his former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and Michigan businessman Perry Johnson. Others have former Vice President Mike Pence, ex-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and South Carolina Sen. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a famous Trump rival who would wait till late summer to announce the campaigns. Hogan has recently insisted on the prospect of competing against Trump, which didn’t significantly influence this decision. Hogan said, “He’s adamant. But, you know, I beat life-threatening cancer. So having Trump call me names on Twitter didn’t scare me off.” He added, “It’s mostly about the country and the party; it was a personal decision. It was like; I didn’t need that job. I didn’t need to run for another office. I considered it because I thought it was public service, and maybe I could make a difference.”

Hogan – a two-term Republican governor in blue Maryland

Hogan has been the second Republican governor in Maryland ever re-elected. He was even considered hope to the group of “Never Trump Republicans.” Hogan won his first term 2014 as governor in 2014 by using public campaign financing against a better-funded candidate. He then prioritized pocketbook issues by lowering the tolls, which the Democrats controlled for a long time, further sending the National Guard in the unrest in Baltimore in 2015. In the same June, he was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma but continued working with just some treatment. He further became the second Republican governor in the history of Maryland to win the reelection in the year 2018 by defeating Ben Jealous.
