Durham School Services To Lay Off 500 Workers In Indianapolis, Indiana

This month, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development received a WARN from Durham School Services. The letter explains that the company will be closing two facilities in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a result, employees at both locations will be laid off permanently.

The two facilities are located at the following addresses.

  • 2525 North Shadeland Avenue
  • 1777 Belmont Avenue

Both facilities are located in Indianapolis. The closures are expected to be permanent. The company anticipates that the terminations will take place on or around June 30, 2020 which is the time when the company’s contract with Indianapolis Public Schools will expire.

The employment of all union and non-union workers will cease. The layoffs will be permanent and impacted workers will not have access to bumping rights. 218 of the impacted workers are drivers while 243 are bus assistants.
