COVID-19 Natural Disaster Leads To 102 Loss Of Jobs In Cleveland OH

The Ohio Department of Job & Family Services received an electronically mailed WARN on March 19, 2020, from Punch Bowl Social. The notice alerts of a layoff that would impact 102 workers. The layoff is expected to be permanent, according to the WARN.

Punch Bowl has multiple locations throughout the United States. The WARN is specific for the location at 1086 West 11th Street in Cleveland, Ohio. The company had future plans to open new locations in Phoenix, Arizona; Washington, D.C.; St. Louis, Missouri; Houston, Texas; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Kansas City, Missouri.

Punch Bowl has also filed WARNs in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Portland, Oregon.

Employee separations are expected to begin immediately. The impacted employees do not have union representations.

The layoff has been contributed to “unexpected and unforeseen business circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
