Courtyard By Marriott LaGuardia Hotel Will Lay Off 144 Employees


Courtyard by Marriott LaGuardia Hotel filed an amended Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification on September 29 with the New York State Department of Labor. The notice indicates that the hotel will close and lay off 144 employees on October 15.

Courtyard By MarriottIn 2016, rumors surfaced that the hotel at 90-10 Grand Central Parkway in East Elmhurst would be converted into a homeless shelter. The Department of Homeless Services denied the rumors, as elected officials blasted their failure to notify the community of their plans.

The hotel cited “economic” as the reason for closure on the filing. No further details were immediately available.
