Coronavirus Natural Disaster Forces Areas USA IND LLC To Close Restaurants At Indianapolis International Airport


The Indiana Department of Workforce Development has received a WARN from Areas USA IND LLC. It explains that the company will be temporarily closing its restaurant operations and conducting layoffs at the Indianapolis International Airport located at 7800 Col. H. Weir Cook Memorial Drive. Employee separations associated with the decision commenced during the 14-day period starting on March 19, 2020.

The company anticipates that the closure and layoffs will be temporary. The company says it will ensure impacted employees will be paid all earned wages and agreed upon benefits through their last day of work.

Some of the workers are represented by Unite Here Local 23 Indiana so there may be bumping rights implicated under the collective bargaining agreement. It is expected that 70 workers will be temporarily laid off. The full WARN can be found here.
