A Cordova man is in jail facing child abuse charge dating back almost 30 years.
According to an online police report, 69-year-old James Morris Jr. of Cordova, Maryland is accused of abuse that started when the alleged victim was five to eight years old during 1990-1993. Morris has been indicted on multiple charges, including sodomy, second-degree sex offense, third-degree sex offense, child abuse and perverted practice.
Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division investigators assigned to the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force receiver an online tip concerning an individual involved in the sexual abuse of multiple children and the production of child pornography.
An investigation that began in October 2017 led to the identification of Morris. Law enforcement executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence Thursday, recovering electronic equipment.
Multiple victims of Morris gathered evidence indicating he “may be currently abusing young teenagers.”
Morris was arrested on-scene and processed at the Easton Barrack.
