Centro Hispano Milwaukee To End Head Start Program, Laying Off 88 Employees


Centro Hispano Milwaukee filed a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the State of Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development on November 17. The notice indicates the company will end its Head Start and Early Head Start programs on November 30.

Centro Hispano is a nonprofit organization and grantee of Early Head Start and Head Start. The organization has been providing services to the underserved populations of Milwaukee since 1964, according to its website.

Federal grant funding will end as of November 30, forcing the organization to terminate its head start programs, according to the filing.

The affected employees who have no bumping rights will separate on November 30.
