CareConnect Insurance Company To Close Its East Hills Office, Lay Off 28 Employees


Northwell Health issued announced in September its plans to withdraw from New York State’s insurance market over the next year. The company’s insurance arm, CareConnect Insurance Company, would no longer write or renew individual policies for calendar year 2018, according to the news release.

Business Closing

The company filed a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the New York State Department of Labor on October 12. The notice indicates that they company will close its New York office at 2200 Northern Boulevard in East Hills and lay out 28 employees.

The employees impacted by the closure are not represented by a union and are expected to separate on December 26. The filing cites the reason for dislocation as “economic.” The closing date has not been determined.
