Baltimore Police Investigating Domestic Related Homicide On Bennett Road In Essex


On December 30, 2018 shortly after 8 PM, Baltimore County Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Bennett Road after receiving reports of a disturbance involving a gun. Homicide detectives discovered that 62-year-old Joseph William Principio of the 7600-block of Holly Ridge Drive had visited his ex-girlfriend’s residence on Bennett Road. She was inside the house with her current boyfriend. Principio allegedly forced his way into the home after his ex-girlfriend answered the door. Armed with a handgun, Principio began assaulting the current boyfriend once he made entry into the home.

Ultimately, the current boyfriend managed to gain control over Principio and hold him down until police arrived. Joseph William Principio was transported to John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. He was later pronounced decreased. The current boyfriend suffered injuries to his upper body and arms. He too was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He is expected to survive his injuries. While a handgun was recovered at the scene, none of the individuals involved suffered injuries related to gunfire. It is believed that the weapon was never fired during the altercation.
