Baltimore Police Investigate Police Involved Shooting


Baltimore, Maryland – On January 20, 2018 at approximately 3:15 a.m., Citiwatch camera operators spotted at least three unknown males in the area of Park Avenue at Clay Street, outside of a vehicle, arming themselves with handguns.

The camera operator called for patrol units to respond to the area to investigate.

As patrol units pulled into the block, the three suspects noticed their police presence and fled in separate directions.

One of the suspects ran into the 200 block of W. Mulberry Street where he was confronted by officers, and shot in the leg. After shooting the suspect, a loaded semi-automatic handgun was taken away from him. That suspect, a 20 year-old male was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening wound. Charges are pending and forthcoming.

While a second suspect ran, the camera operator observed him to toss a firearm into a dumpster in a nearby alley. The camera operator continued to track that suspect and directed officers to him. That suspect, a 20 year-old male, was arrested without further incident and a loaded revolver was recovered from that dumpster.

The camera operator watched the third suspect run and toss a firearm into a dumpster in the 200 block of Clay Street. That suspect was not apprehended, however, the discarded firearm, a loaded revolver was recovered.

All seized firearms were collected and submitted as evidence.

No other suspects nor police were injured.

Members from command and the Special Investigation Response Team responded out and are investigating this incident. This investigation is open and ongoing.
