Baltimore Police Identify Suspect In The Death Of Maryland Lawmaker’s Grandson

Approximately 12:30 p.m. September 4, police were dispatched to the 4200 block of Nicholas Avenue to investigate a reported shooting. Upon arrival, the responding officers located a 22-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds to his body.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Police later identified the victim as Tyron Ray, the grandson of Maryland House Majority Whip Talmadge Branch.

The preliminary investigation revealed the shooter as 19-year-old Raekwon Thornton of the 3600 block of Elmely Avenue. Police have not been able to locate Thornton and are reaching out to the public for help. Anyone with information to Thornton’s whereabouts is urged to call homicide detectives at 410-396-2100 or 911.
