Baltimore Police Identify Suspect In Elmley Avenue Fatal Shooting


At approximately 1:15 p.m. February 13, Baltimore Police were dispatched to the 3800 block of Elmley Avenue to investigate a reported shooting. At the scene, officers located an unresponsive 22-year-old male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.

Gilbert GardnerMedics transported the male to Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim was later identified as 22-year-old Sadik Griffin.

Through extensive investigation detectives were able to identify the suspect as Gilbert M. Gardner 23, of the 3700 block of Lyndale Avenue.

Gardner was arrested on February 15 during a search of a home in the 3700 block of Lyndale Avenue. In addition to Gardner’s arrest, officers seized five handguns and suspected narcotics.

Gardner has been charged with first-degree murder and multiple drug and gun offenses.
