Baltimore Police Crisis Response Team Resolve A Hostage Situation


The Baltimore Police Department Crisis Response Team responded to a hostage and barricade situation Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to the 900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue around 12:20 p.m. to investigate a possible barricade. At the scene, police discovered that a 38-year-old woman was barricaded inside an apartment with two small children, ages 6 and 9.

The woman had a gun in her possession and was threatening suicide, police said. She snapped a picture of the weapon and distributed it to several family members.

The department’s Crisis Response Team was called to the scene. The crisis team was familiar with the woman and was able to get her to walk outside, at which time the situation was resolved peacefully. The woman was transported to a local facility for an evaluation

Police determined that the gun was a replica. No injuries were reported and no criminal charges have been at this time.
