Baltimore County Police Identify Victims Of Two Separate Motorcycle Crashes


Baltimore County, Maryland – Baltimore County Police are asking all drivers to be vigilant in looking for motorcycles on the roadway now that the warm weather is upon us after investigating two fatal crashes involving motorcyclists this afternoon.

ArrestThe first crash occurred on Falls Road at Butler Road around 2 p.m. when a motorcycle traveling northbound on Falls Road struck the rear of a vehicle that entered onto northbound Falls Road in front of him from Butler Road. The driver of the motorcycle, identified as 18-year-old Daniel John Mangold of the 2900 block of Southwestern Avenue in Manchester, 21102, died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, who was not injured, remained at the scene.

The second crash occurred on York Road at Murdock Road in the Towson Precinct around 5 p.m. when a vehicle traveling southbound on York Road turned left in front of a motorcycle traveling northbound on York Road, causing the crash. The motorcyclist, a 20-year-old man who is not yet being identified, was transported to Sinai Hospital where he died of his injuries. All three occupants of the vehicle were also transported to area hospitals – an adult female driver and juvenile passenger were transported by medic to area hospitals with minor injuries, while a 5-year-old passenger of the vehicle was transported by Maryland State Police Medevac with life-threatening injuries but is expected to survive.

Update: The deceased driver of the motorcycle in the fatal crash on York Road has been identified as Anthony Isaiah Pompey (20) of the unit block of Rhonda Court in Windsor Mill, 21244.
