Ascensia Diabetes Care To Close Mishawaka Facility, Lay Off 113 Employees

Ascensia Diabetes Care, Inc. filed a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development on October 25. The notice indicates the company will close its Mishawaka facility and lay off 113 employees.

Business Closing

Ascensia Diabetes Care is a medical equipment and supply company. The company was established in 2016 through the acquisition of Bayer Diabetes Care by Panasonic Healthcare Holdings.

The facility at 430 South Beiger Street will close on September 30, 2018. Employee departure is expected to occur on December 29, 2017.

In a statement, the company said, “Changing requirement for our business have led to the decision to close this facility.”
