Aquaman has been one of the most popular characters in the DC Universe for decades now, and this sequel will be no different. It was confirmed that Aqualad would be a major character as well as Black Manta, King Orm Marius, Queen Mera Nereus, and Princess Atlanna Amara.
When Is the Release Date?
Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom will be out on December 16, 2022. It is between other movies, The Flash on November 4, 2022, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods on June 2, 2023. All three movies are directed by famous directors. James Wan is the director of “The Conjuring.” Andy Muschietti is the director of “It.” David F. Sandberg is the director of “Lights Out.”
Who are the Confirmed Characters in ‘Aquaman 2’?
Jason Momoa is Aquaman. He went into his hair to make it lighter before he started shooting. Recently, the actor and singer Khal Curry showed a first look at a new suit for the new picture. You can swipe between the gaudy, ornate gold and green armor salvaged at the end of Aquaman and the new, sleeker, darker stealth suit. Wan said that the suite is Atlantian tech. It is based on cephalopods and how they camouflage themselves. The suite has a more muted color scheme and it has fewer bevels and fins on the boots. Jason Momoa said he helped to write the script for Aquaman. He said that he felt 100% encouraged by his other writers and director. All of their hearts are in it.
Amber Heard is coming back as Mera. She’s coming back to do more filming for the movie Justice League. And she’ll be in the movie Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom too. She posted a photo of her doing push-ups that are hanging from the ground. She also put a video of her twirling a staff.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is going to be Aquaman’s human enemy again. He posted a lot about getting ready for his movie, and he seems happy. In Aquaman, we just got a small introduction to Black Manta. He has some reasons for why he does what he does. I like this one because it lets me exercise more, and I can breathe. It also lets the actors tell some good stories.
Patrick Wilson said that Orm will return in the movie Aquaman. James Wan showed a picture of Orm, who is buff and on land, not in the water as we expected.
Dolph Lundgren and Temuera Morrison are both coming back to be in the movie.
What Is the Plot of ‘Aquaman 2’?
At the DC FanDome panel in August 2020, Wan said that the second movie is more serious and relevant to what’s happening today.
Fans were worried about the movie after they read hints of a changed tone. But we should be confident because the director would not move forward until he was happy with the script and story. This is an interview with Wan in 2021. He talks about the decision to make the sequel darker.
In the first movie, people were surprised. That is because they weren’t familiar with the comic book. The comic book is in a strange world and people wanted a dark film instead of a light one. But I didn’t think it would be right to do that. So, with the second movie, it will be easier for people to accept where we go because I’ve already laid the foundation.

The director offered insight into the movie he made. He said that he got his inspiration for the movie from an Italian sci-fi horror movie. It’s about a spaceship crew who are battling each other on another planet because their minds and bodies are taken over by something that is not in their body. Malignant was a movie that had a lot of dark and mysterious scenes. It is safe to say that some of the scenes in Malignant also show up in the DCEU.
Wan has also posted hints about the lost city of Atlantis. In the comic, Necrus is a vanishing city that appears and disappears in different places with the help of technology.
