Akustica Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bosch Group, filed a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry earlier this week. The notice indicates the company will lay off 54 employees at its Pittsburgh facility.
Akustica is a top supplier of silicon microphone products that are utilized in laptops, mobile phones and tablets, as well as smart home and wearable devices. The company was founded in Pittsburgh in 2001 and acquired by Robert Bosch in 2009, according to the company’s website.
The workers impacted by the layoff are expected to separate on October 31, according to the WARN filing.
