15-Year-Old Juvenile Throws Bleach In Officer’s Eyes In Columbia

Howard County Police say an officer was assaulted while trying to separate two groups of teenage girls in Columbia.

Approximately, 12 p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to the 6500 block of Overheart Lane to investigate an altercation between two groups of juveniles. At the scene, the officers attempted to separate the groups, when a 15-year-old female dashed toward the officers and threw a cup of bleach at them.

An officer was struck in the eye and an adult female in the face. The officer was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and later released. The 15-year-old suspect was arrested and charged as a juvenile with assault, according to the report.

A witness at the scene reported to police that an adult male exited his home and brandished a gun at the group. Police obtained a search warrant of the man’s residence and recovered the handgun. An individual in the home was arrested on an unrelated open warrant for assault from a neighboring jurisdiction.
