A 14-year-old girl was killed in the backseat of a Hyundai Sonata on her way to a Towson mall to purchase new clothes for an upcoming Disney cruise.
Ahjee Lawrence and several others, were traveling south on Post Spring Road in Timonium around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, wind gusts up to 70 mph brought down a tree on top of the Hyundai.
Ahjee Lawrence of the first block of Hogarth Circle was pronounced dead at the scene. A 6 and 13 year old, along with Ahjee’s mother, Waketa Thomas, and the driver were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The girl’s stepfather said her dream was to be a hip-hop choreographer when she grew up.
Ahjee was born in Jersey City, New Jersey and moved to Towson with her family in 2009 and in 2014, the family moved to Cockeysville.
Approximately 30,000 Baltimore Gas and Electric’s customers were left without power, as violent stores brought 70 mph winds, lightning and sheets of rain to the Baltimore area Thursday. Nearly 3,000 customers were still without power on Friday.
