About 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland issued an urgent message about an active shooter. HCC officials initially warned students, staff, administration and others to shelter in place and continue to follow orders from law enforcement.
The alert was related to reports of a man wearing dark clothing with a rifle on the campus. There were other reports of someone holding a mask.
The Harford County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene within 5 minutes and immediately began securing the area.
After interviewing several people, HCSO determined that there were no shots fired.
Police have deemed the campus safe and continue to investigate the incident.
