The Foundery announced last week that it would lower rates on its day passes. The new pricing, which went into effect August 1, is part of an effort to drive traffic to its facility.
The Baltimore makerspace will do away with its monthly pass and begin offering day passes for 80 percent of the original $50 price. The new prices will vary between $10 and $20, depending on the time and day of week.
The facility at 101 West Dickman Street in Port Covington offers a range of woodworking, bench and metal tools, such as industrial grade equipment utilized in small scale manufacturing.
The Foundery also offers blacksmithing, laser cutting, welding and safety classes. Enrolling in a class is a requirement for utilizing the shop.
Executive Director Jason Hardebeck said he hopes the new membership pricing entices people who take the classes to stay to utilize the equipment and tools.
Weekdays – Full day from 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. $20
Weekday – Evening from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. $10
Weekend – Full day from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. – $10
Discounts are available for teachers, students, first responders, active duty military, veterans and seniors 65 years of age and older.
Current membership will remain effective until the renewal date, at which time they will automatically expire.
