A preliminary investigation determined the dead body was that of Abigail Bastien of Sandusky, Ohio. Bastien, 19, was a student at the university. The cause of death is unclear at this time.
“On behalf of the entire Johns Hopkins community, we offer our deepest sympathies to Abby’s family and friends,” wrote vice provost of student affairs, Kevin G. A police spokesman, Detective Jeremy Silbert, said Bastien’s body was discovered outside, but could not provide further details.
Silbert said the investigation is ongoing.
Bastien, a Kreiger School of Arts & Sciences student, was working in the university’s cell biology department as part of a summer program. She was a member of the school’s track and field team and Alpha Phi sorority.
