REMITCO To Close Staten Island Office, Lay Off 64 Employees

First Data REMITCO filed a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the New York State Department of Labor on January 5. The notice indicates the company will close its Staten Island office at 1150 South Avenue on September 30.

Business Closing

REMITCO offers payment processing solutions to telecommunications, insurance, mortgage, cable, consumer finance and utility companies.

Employee separations will begin on April 21 and continue through September 30. The affected workers do not have bumping rights, according to the filing.

“Economic” is cited in the filing as the reason for the closure.
