Prince George’s County Police Identify Suspect In Fatal Seat Pleasant Fire

Prince George’s County Police announce the arrest of suspect in fatal fire that took place on November 2 in Seat Pleasant.

Approximately 5:30 a.m., Prince George’s County firefighters were dispatched to the 6200 block of Foote Street to investigate a reported house fire. At the scene, firefighters began extinguishing the fire, when two victims were located inside the vacant residence, according to the report.

Thomas Gerald Deal

Medics pronounced the victims who have been identified as Derrick McDowell, 51, of Etna Drive in Upper Marlboro and Gary Alphonso Driver, 56, of Southern Avenue in Oxon Hill deceased.

Through investigation, officials were able to link Thomas Gerald Deal, 53, of 61st Street in Northeast Washington. Detectives have charged Deal with arson and two counts of first-degree murder. He is being held at the Department of Corrections.
